I decided to become a civil celebrant so I could offer couples of all types my ideas and experience to help them craft the ceremony they feel best reflects them. Since I began officiating in 2021, I have performed over 200 ceremonies. In addition, I have more than 20 years experience planning, writing, and conducting non-denominational rituals and ceremonies in a variety of settings. I believe my skills as a writer allow me to translate other people's general thoughts into specific words. My research into rituals from a sociological standpoint gives me unique insight regarding the elements and sequencing of ceremonies. Also, I am just as comfortable officiating for 2 people as for 200+.
I believe every couple wishing to make a lifelong commitment deserves to be treated with respect. Spiritual beliefs, gender identities and sexual preferences are integral parts of a marriage and should be acknowledged and celebrated if the couple wishes to do so in their marriage ceremony.
I grew up in the Western US but lived in a number of places within Virginia and North Carolina for the past 44 years . I put down roots in Loudoun County when I moved to Sterling, VA in 2011. Since then, I have happily shared a house with my husband, my housemate, and a cat who is the hunter/stealthmaster extraordinaire of the household.
